I know you have the other amount that the user has to click the dropdown but what if I just want the other amount section by default?

Our extension just supports user choosing amount through dropdown at frontend. There's no set up to change dropdown type to a field type. If you want to input another amount, you should choose "Other amount" option at dropdown http://prntscr.com/o6d9oz
